RANCHI: The girls in the city are keeping pace with the boy bands and showcasing their talent as far as music is concerned. With less than a month left for Christmas, the girls who play in bands are preparing hard for their performances. Guitars, drums, pianos, synthesizers and flutes, girls are seen playing the instruments to perfect tune.
Sharing her experience, Ankita Lovelyne Baxla from Voice of Truth band said on Sunday, "I love to play rhythm guitar along with my younger sister who is seen behind the drums.

We are preparing very hard for our shows scheduled to start from December 3. This month we have several shows which also include Christmas carols. On December 2, we are performing at Gospel Rock show at CNI, Bahu Bazaar."
Ankita is a final year bachelor's student of biotechnology in St Xavier's College, Ranchi. She has been playing guitar for eights years now. "Girls are mostly treated equally to boys in the metro cities. So why should our city not follow that? My parents support me completely in whatever I do and so I am living my dream," she said.
Nilofer Naaz, who is seen on the keyboards and also plays the guitar, said, "I have seven siblings who are elder than me and in our society girls are not given much freedom. I consider myself lucky."my parents supported me in fulfilling my dream. Even if girls are talented they are made to miss opportunities. It is high time people realize the importance of treating their children equally irrespective of their gender."
Male lead singers from bands like Strings agree. Md Tareek said, "I often do shows in Delhi and perform with lady drummers and guitarists who are exceptionally well. The city girls deserve an opportunity which has been long pending. It is good that the girls are coming out of their houses and performing in front of audiences. It will give them confidence and also help them to create their identity."
